About the Show:

This exhibition features three well-known local artists whose work is inspired by birds and shaped by their close relationship with the Indiana Dunes: Betsy Fleek, Kristina Knowski and Christine Hubbell.

Each artist brings a distinct approach to bird art—through nature journaling, bird watching, and interpretive strolling—offering multiple perspectives on avian life and the landscapes they inhabit. Together, their work celebrates birds as subjects of beauty, sources of knowledge, and vital indicators of healthy ecosystems.

“Feathers” extends beyond a traditional gallery exhibition by incorporating opportunities for viewer engagement and learning. The show invites visitors to slow down, observe more closely, and deepen their connection to the birds of Northwest Indiana. By blending art with education and shared experience, the exhibition reflects the Depot’s role as a place where history, culture, and environmental awareness meet.
