About the Artist:

I am drawn to painting barns and unimposing houses, treating them as simple flat shapes and playing with formal concerns while keeping an eye open for a mood to enter in. These iconic structures stand in for the people who are noticeably absent from the scene. They are the yin to the yang of the organic forms that surround them; plowed fields, grass, trees, clouds. It is light that performs the alchemy of giving an otherwise mundane subject a sense of mystery. Calm and meditative, these midsize oil paintings present the viewer with a world that is orderly and still, but a little odd.

I am drawn to painting flowers because sometimes I need a little chaos. Their strident color and energetic forms, barely contained by the edges of the canvas, bring me a great deal of joy.
